Private Transfer to Maras and Moray

Maras and Moray are two of the most striking and most photographed sites in the Sacred Valley: the Salineras de Maras, thousands of ochre-and-white salt pans carved into a hillside, and the circular Inca terraces of Moray, believed to have served as an agricultural laboratory. Cusco Private Transfer takes you to both in a private, exclusive vehicle, so you can explore each site at your own pace instead of on a group’s schedule.

The route runs through the Sacred Valley’s open farmland and snow-capped peaks, roughly 50 km from Cusco — about an hour’s drive each way.

INFORMATION

Private Tour Itinerary

1. Pick-Up in Cusco

Your driver picks you up at your hotel door or a preferred location in the city, and the drive heads out through the Sacred Valley toward Chinchero, where wide farmland and mountain views open up along the way.

2. Moray — The Inca Agricultural Terraces

The first stop is Moray, a series of concentric circular terraces cut into the landscape. Researchers believe the depth and orientation of each level created distinct microclimates, letting the Incas experiment with crops from different altitudes. You’re free to explore the site and viewpoints at your own pace.

3. Maras — The Salineras Salt Pans

From Moray, the road descends toward Maras and the Salineras — thousands of individual salt pools fed by a natural saline spring, still worked much as they were in Inca times. Several scenic viewpoints along the way make good stops for photos before reaching the pans themselves.

4. Return to Cusco

After visiting both sites, your driver takes you back to Cusco, or on to another Sacred Valley destination if you’d like to continue your day — just let us know when booking.

WHY BOOK THIS TRANSFER

Why Book This Private Transfer

Most travelers fly into Cusco and go directly to the Sacred Valley to begin acclimatizing at a lower altitude before continuing to Machu Picchu. Doing that leg in a shared shuttle or a street taxi means waiting for other passengers, unclear pricing, and drivers unfamiliar with mountain roads. A private transfer solves all three:

  • No waiting on other travelers — the vehicle leaves when you’re ready, not when it fills up.
  • One flat rate per vehicle, not per person, agreed before you travel.
  • Flight monitoring, so delays or early landings don’t leave you stranded.
  • Direct route knowledge of the Sacred Valley’s towns, train stations, and hotel access points.
  • Assistance with luggage and any questions along the way.

Additional

Recommended Schedule

Departure time is flexible and up to you. Many travelers leave Cusco between 7:00 and 8:00 AM, when the road is quieter and the light works well for photos at both sites — Moray in particular tends to be calmer earlier in the day. An afternoon departure, usually around 1:00 PM, is also an option if you’d rather catch warm late-day light at the salt pans.

Are Entrance Tickets Included?

No. Entry to Moray is covered by the Boleto Turístico (partial or general), purchased at the site or in Cusco. The Maras salt pans require a separate entrance fee, paid directly at the site — it’s worth carrying small cash, since some ticket points don’t accept cards.
